It's been well over a month since I made a new entry.
It all started in July when I had this feeling of wanting to spend. Allow me to put forward a note adapted from Ben Randal (US Coast Guard - The Guardian) for your question of WHY.
If i can't answer it for myself, I am certainly not going to try and answer it for you.
So at the moment I am unable to answer that question
I adopted the fact that I can only live this life once. Do things you want to and don't regret it. Of course there are pros and cons that's why you've got to know what you are doing. I guess that people regret what they did because they weren't sure of what they were doing.
At that point of time, I wanted to spend. The question was 'on what'? As Morrie said, "I want to be surrounded by happy souls." I concluded that I would spend it on makan (meals/yum-cha) with family and friends. Realistically, I think I would lose them faster than to bond closer because (of course we need food and drinks) I consider a person that pays the bill showing an indirect way of personal appreciation. Obviously no one person could or should be spending everyone every meal. Move to Plan B.
Plan B started one day when I was browsing through 3rdklbb.org. Darryn, one of the person I had been keeping contact with since we met in primary school and then BB posted about an on going auction for a badge (King's Badge) on ebay on the chatbox. In the beginning I didn't really pay attention until the topic about the badges (BB Badge) struck me.
I could spend on that and keep it as a collection.
In no time, I was surfing ebay and bidding for the badge. Being new to it, I was unsure of how to bid and how ebay works. So Darryn was dragged into the picture. On our very fist ebay item, we accompanied one another (romantically~~ kidding) talking just about the King's Badge. Unable to wait till the auction end, I just entered my amount and went to bed.
Logging onto ebay started to become something we both did daily from that day onwards.
Waking up the next morning, I quickly checked whether I won the bid for King's Badge. Unfortunately and fortunately I lost. Yes, I didn't win but then I thought
If I would had won, I wouldn't be able to pay because I didn't know how to (so much for 'knowing' what I was doing.. lol~~!!)
Knowing how to use Paypal was next alongside with learning how to use auto-bid. I didn't really spend the time learning to do so until about a week later when my younger sister msn-ed me one morning asking whether she should pay for my item that I've won (Queen's Badge). Of course I said yes and finally learned how to pay using Paypal.
You'd rather get confused from me wanting King's Badge but getting Queen's Badge. I would one fine day post about those badges for your reading.
Of course Darryn did his bidding as well. His method of winning the items were a mile more sophisticated than mine. Till today, we are still scouting for interesting BB-related items ranging from badges -> books. We've slowly shifted from collecting badges to history research.
Now that I've spent, it's time to make the best use of what I have (learning from another close friend of mine, Chin Gian). It would only be a matter of time before the articles of the badges are compiled and posted either here or at 3rdklbb.org
